Program Start Date: January.

A Preliminary Application must be submitted electronically and received by March 1.

This preliminary application is the first of a 2-part process for the University of Cincinnati. Following the review of your preliminary application, you will receive specific instructions about how to apply for the program. This is NOT the final graduate application. This application is to ensure you live within the required geographic region (2-3 hours from UC), to ensure you are a good candidate for an online graduate program, and to review your prerequisites.

It is imperative that you have the flexibility in your employment Monday-Friday in order to complete clinical practicum requirements.  A minimum of 400 supervised clock hours, at a variety of clinical sites including school and health care settings, are required. The number of hours per week spent in practicum increases as you proceed through the program.

PRE-REQUISITE COURSEWORK

All students are required to complete prerequisite courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).  In addition, there are four other required courses for ASHA licensure, one in each of the following areas:  statistics, physical science (physics or chemistry) biological science (general biology, human biology or anatomy and physiology), and social science (usually psychology, sociology or social anthropology).  The University of Cincinnati also requires a course in Lifespan Development to include birth through aging. All of these courses must be completed prior to the start date of the graduate program.

The prerequisite courses can be taken at any accredited university.  The CSD courses listed below may have a different name but the content is similar. Some universities cover the Audiology material in one course and others cover it in two courses. Example course names are provided. Please indicate courses you have taken or a plan for taking each of the required prerequisite courses. A grade of "B-" or better is in communication sciences and disorders courses (see courses below with an *) and is also strongly recommended for all ASHA required courses.
